PROCESS
Stenciled Wallpaper
Wallpaper has been broken down into 12 stencils, bridged, and outlined in Photoshop. Then printed, pounced, and cut out of prepped stencil paper. In photograph, stencil #1 is being placed and color rolled on with a sponge roller.
Stencil
Stencil #5 has just been placed and rolled (light pink color) after leaves have been completed to ensure that flowers appear on top of leaves inspite of any misalignment in stencils.
Stenciled Wallpaper
Stencil #9 is being placed and rolled with 2 colors. This is an example on how 2 steps have been combined to save time and resources.

In first photo, Homasote has been cut, split and ripped with joint compound based texture applied. In second, 2 washes have been applied to bricks to give multi-toned reddish color. In third photo, bricks have been grouted with sand, Sil and Flex Glue, then given 2 dirt colored washes.
3' X 4' Drop Samples
Before starting the large scale drop, 2 samples of difficult areas were created to find the most successful process.
16' X 18' Curtain Drop
After tracing the elevation in Photoshop, projecting, pouncing, and inking the image, the velvet folds were wet-blended in using 2 base colors
16' X 18' Curtain Drop
After wet-blending 2 base colors, 3 washes were used to define the different shades of red in the velvet. Then extensive masking was done for the gold embroidery.
16' X 18'
Next, the embroidery was based, cartooned, and had 2 different washes to give a reflective effect. the whole drop then received 2 darkening washes for unification.
16' X 18' Curtain Drop with Header
The drop was then stretched onto a hard flat and the header was painted in a similar process to the drop for a unified look.
